Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

American Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
  • 375 g all-purpose flour
  • 3 g baking soda
(about one teaspoon)
  • 5 g salt (about one teaspoon)
  • 250 g unsalted butter, very soft
  • 480 g  brown sugar/ "cassonade" (in the USA this is a soft brown sugar that is not found in France)
  • 20 ml vanilla extract
(2 tablespoons)
  • 10 ml water (1 tablespoon)
  • 2 eggs
  • 225g  chocolate chips

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 165 degrees C (325 degrees F). Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.
  3. In a different bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until well blended. Beat in the vanilla, water and eggs until light and creamy.
  4. Mix in the dry ingredients until just blended. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon.
  5. Drop cookie dough 1/4 cup at a time onto the prepared cookie sheets. Cookies should be about 3 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 15 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are lightly toasted. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. Enjoy!  Try dunking in milk.  Yummy!
